A proxy server is a computer or website that hosts a computer network service to let you the client to make indirect network connections via the internet to other network services. You the client connect to the proxy server, in this case the website, then requests a connection, file, or other resource thats hosted on a different server. The proxy provides the resource either by connecting to the specified server or by serving it from a cache. In some cases, the proxy may alter the client's request or the server's response for various purposes. Similar to a typical proxy server, a web-proxy script downloads requested web pages and files and forwards them back to the user. The service is provided by piratebayproxy which allows instant access to the proxy without editing your browser connection settings.

When a proxy is asked to connect to a Website (specified by a URL), a proxy looks for the requested page in its local cache. If the site has been visited before it should be present, if found it loads the page immediately. If not it fetches the site from the remote server, returns it to the proxy page and saves a copy in the cache for future loading. The cache usually uses an expires to remove sites from the cache, in accordance to their age, size, and the last time they were accessed.

A certain amount of web proxies are either "CGI or PHP proxies." These sites allow a user to access a site through them. They generally use PHP or CGI and send a request to the necessary web site, receives "answer" and returns it to the user. Web proxies allow you to be anonymous and access web sites that may be restricted for users from certain countries or geographical regions, access web sites blocked by corporate or school proxies. Since they also hide the user's own IP address from the web sites they access through the proxy, they are sometimes also used to gain a degree of anonymity like on http://piratebayproxy.org
